Sigmund Freud is one of the most famous name in psychology. Many expressions of our daily life come from Freud’s theories of psychoanalysis: unconscious, denial and control. Freud believes that there are three level of consciousness: unconscious which exists outside of your awareness, next is pre conscious one which includes all information that you are not currently aware of it, finally the conscious one which is your current state of awareness. He believed that events in our childhood can have a remarkable influence on our behaviour as adult. He believed that, our behaviour is affected by our childhood experiences. It means that psychodynamic is about two major aspects: subconscious and our past. It can be seen that past
experiences have the most important role of development of personality and behaviour. Freud explained the human mind like an iceberg, it can be seen only a small amount of it, that is our observable behaviour, but the unconscious, submerged mind that has the most influence on our behaviour. There are three parts to the personality which are parts of unconscious mind: the id’ the ego’ and the superego’. The id and superego are continually in disagreement with each other and ego tries to resolve the discord. For example: id says: I want it now. Ego says: I need to do bit of planning to get it. Superego says: you can't have it. It's not right. In the other hand, id is like a child, ego is like an adult, and superego is like punishing parent. Some examples of belief that drive the psychodynamic approach are: The unconscious is one of the most powerful affects on behaviour. Childhood experiences greatly affect emotions and behaviour as adults. The id, ego, and superego form personality.
Sigmund Freud developed a theory of how our sexuality starts from a very young ages. These are called psychosexual stages because each stage represents the fixation of instinct. As a person grows physically certain areas of their body become important as sources of pleasure or potential frustration. He believed that life was built round tension and pleasure. Freud also believed that all tension was due to the build up of sexual energy. He explained that fist five years of life are crucial to the formation of adult personality.
