A Country Divided: A Cultural Background of the Republic of Korea In this world of conflicting ideas, cultures, and beliefs, it is important to have allies on your side. One country that the United States of America (USA) considers their closest ally is the Republic of Korea, also known as South Korea. The relationship between these two great countries is mutually beneficial, partially because of similar goals and interests.
