A Long Walk To Water Analysis
In the non-fiction novel A long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park the author focuses on the survival of Salva Dut a boy who”s behavior goes from happy and joyful to scared and timid and then being proud of who he is. The story takes place in Southern Sudan, Kenya and Ethiopia but there is a war going on at the time. The government in the north was trying to convert the people in the south to Muslim but they were fighting back. At first Salva was at school when the shooting started happening. Salva’s father was a rich man and sending Salva to school (Park p. 2). Salva was thinking about playing with his brothers and making cow out of clay and having a good time (Park p. 3). He was thinking about the good times when one of the brothers shot something with their bow and how juicy the food would come out (Park p. 3). Every day of Salva’s life He would raise his hand in greeting to his mother and she would go prepare him a bowl of milk (Park p. 4,5). It was all cheerful times …show more content…

    They had to survive Africa’s harsh environment, which has plenty of lions, poisonous snakes, and enemy soldiers. They traveled over a hundred miles to Ethiopia, back to Sudan and then to Kenya. They had to remember all of their good times they had to keep that will to live; they also had to make the journey for the friends that they made, and for the ones that they lost.
