A Marine Biologist

A Marine Biologist Marine biology is an ideal profession for me because of my love for the ocean and my passion for sharks. A marine biologist studies all types of sea life and can specialize in studying large ocean animals. Since the release of the 1975 movie “Jaws;” I was captivated by this majestic species. I have always felt a kindred spirit with sharks and want to be part of a solution to change the general population’s perception of sharks. A marine biology education provides me with the knowledge for educating our future generations, becoming involved with conservation efforts by tagging and monitoring, also protecting a specific marine life that is very important to me from being hunted. Working in a profession where I can educate how important sharks are in our oceans, and help to dismiss the perception that comes when people think of sharks, is important to me. Educating our future generation will have a positive impact on the shark species. Sharks are not a vengeful predator as portrayed in the 1975 film “Jaws;” they are a key species in our oceans. The marine biology field will provide me an opportunity to work on a research vessel or even at a local aquarium to collect data and other information to help provide an understanding of shark behavior so educational programs can
I am also a dive instructor and am very comfortable being in the ocean. With my diving experience and a marine biology education, I will be able to assist in tagging and monitoring shark behavior. Tagging provides an educational benefit that helps generate public awareness, also by monitoring shark’s habits, it can help agencies to set protection boundaries.
