Steven King influenced my writing in many ways from his book, “On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft.” I learned to avoid the passive tense, and the adverb is not my friend. To write well you must read a lot, and you must always tell the truth. I look forward to reading other books and novels by King to experience more of his writing and storytelling.
I became stuck in my writing when trying to describe a certain situation or memory. To put myself back in that moment, and gather all of my surroundings and feelings. I also became stuck when attempting to change up my word choice. I noticed that I used a lot of the same words to begin sentences as well, such as FANBOYS.
