his biological father is, and Tabby died before she ever revealed the truth John. It is obvious that John values his relationship with Owen Meany more than anything else and he could be remembered by John for several reasons. I used John’s statement, “I am doomed to remember a boy with a wrecked voice. Not because of his voice, or because he was the smallest person I ever knew, or even because he was the instrument of my mother's death, but because he is the reason I believe in God. I am a Christian because of Owen Meany” (1) to support my claim that the most important thing John got from
Owen was his faith. In the novel, John appears to be stuck in the past . I used the quotes “Your memory is a monster; you forget - it doesn't. It simply files things away. It keeps things for you, or hides things from you - and summons them to your recall with a will of its own. You think you have a memory; but it has you!” (34), and “O God-please give him back I shall keep asking You!” (617) to show that John still feels the sorrow of his past. My in depth analysis of John Wheelwright in A Prayer for Owen Meany shows that I have a great comprehension of the text.
