A Raisin In The Sun Setting Analysis
The setting contributes so much to the overall meaning and theme of the entire play, A Raisin in the Sun. The author gives a ton of detail about the apartment the Younger family is living in. In the beginning of the play the author describes the rooms in the apartment: Narrator. Weariness has, in fact won in this room (1542). The apartment is livable and it works for them, but no family wants to have to settle somewhere that’s “good enough”. Although, because the characters had to adapt to this kind of life they were given, they’ve become stronger people. The furniture in their home is, as described by the author: Narrator. scrubbed too often (1542). The carpet is worn, there’s not a stain in sight, and the only source of natural light is that coming through a small window in the kitchen. This indicates the type of people the Younger family are. He was given this life that was both a blessing and a curse and he learned how to accept it and how to put others first and be a family man. A man who knows the right moves to make in order to better his and his family’s lives. Because the Younger family moved into a different setting; an actual house that they can call theirs, and enough bedrooms for everyone, they will actually have a chance at a successful, happy life. Although living in an all-white neighborhood may have its challenges, it will have many more benefits. When they lived in that cramped apartment with one bathroom being shared between multiple families, and not nearly enough room for a family of 5...almost 6, it put a lot of stress on everyone. Now that they are in their own area, they can begin to build a life. The setting, but original and new, of A Raisin in the Sun contributed so much to the overall meaning of the play. Life is hard, until you learn how to be smart and make the most of it. And never forget, family is the most important

To begin with, Bradley describes the house in a negative connotation with, “It’s early-Victorian wall paper (mustard yellow, with a splattering of things that looked like blood red clots of string) made it seem larger: a cold, boundless, drafty waste.” (Bradley 17) Bradley describes the interior of the estate in a negative connotation since the house isn’t as lively as it used to be. I think that the community that the author lived in had some changes on his life. Some of the people that helped affect some changes in the authors life was the authors friends. The authors friends helped him a lot by hoping for him to win the election for president in his school. I also think that his parents had a lot to do with affecting some of the things in the authors life. For example, the author probably would not have his bike that he got for Christmas if his parents did not sacrifice going to the movies or going bowling, so that they could make sure their kids had most of the things they wanted. This is how the authors community had an affect on the authors life.…

Lorraine Hansberry portrays the revolution of black’s consciousness through the play, A Raisin in the Sun, by introducing the Younger family to readers. This play takes place in a poor black neighborhood in Chicago’s Southside in the 1950s where the Younger family struggles with racial discrimination and finding their true dreams and goals. Like most literature, this play has a clear protagonist, but Hansberry also uses an anti-hero, a flawed character who lacks heroic qualities, but with whom the reader still sympathizes and who eventually redeems himself through a heroic act or decision. With the weight of his deferred dreams upon his shoulders, Walter Lee Younger digs himself into a massive pit of troubles but slowly redeems himself by realizing the wrongs of his actions, making him the anti-hero of this play.…

“Human rights are not only violated by terrorism, repression or assassination, but also by unfair economic structures that creates huge inequalities” (Pope Francis). When it comes to terrorism all across the globe, people are highly concerned; however, when it comes to socioeconomic inequality concentrated within their own cities, people are ignorant. Pope Francis compares economic inequalities to terrorism, repression, or assassination, because each of those violates human rights. To some people, this comparison may seem too extreme, but in reality it is not unreasonable. Our country has taken many measures to prevent terrorist attacks, yet we have turned a blind eye to our own citizens who are homeless or in poverty. If anything, we contributed…
