Dog Whistle Politics Paper Dog Whistle Politics discusses issues in American politics. He talks about the gap between the rich and poor. He keys into the racial nature that motivates people to vote and the inequality in America. He talks about how politicians use race and hate to manipulate voters and to win elections. How white voters support policies that favor the wealthy even though it threatens their own interests. Promises of getting rid of undocumented immigrants, protecting them from Islam’s, slashing taxes brainwashes these white voters. Ian Lopez points the connection between white voters and how they’re convinced minorities are the problem in America. He summaries the domination of white supremacy and the effects it has in American politics today. Lopez provides support in his thesis by mentioning the decades of long tales of moral contradiction. He examines tactics that keeps the separation between whites and nonwhites in America. Lopez is correct about the inequality in this country and how whites use racism to maintain their privilege. Lopez also makes a valid argument when it comes to racism and coded racial appeals. This past election can be used as a prime example of race baiting tactics and how it was used to undermine the middle class to advance the interests of the wealthy, and how the Democrats failed to effectively fight.
