In chapter one "Time and the Mythic Present" of the novel, "Thunder Rides A Black Horse" by Claire R. Farrer discussed Native American people live with those who have gone before them with those who are present at the moment. In the American West and Southwest, Indians on multiple reservations live their life in the "mythic present". What modern Americans considered to have occurred long ago, if it even occurred at all, is actual and visible everyday on reservations. There was a co-presence of events in which the warrior twins engaged in which took place at the dinner table was sought to have been the "mythic present". "Both the Long Ago and the Now are present together in thought,…
This report is based on the book Thunder Rides a Black Horse written by Claire R. Farrer. This book is written in context of an indian group called the Mescalero Apache Indians. Their reservation and ceremonial grounds are based in the south-central part of New Mexico. The author is very familiar with this tribe as she claims to be like family with some of the members. She writes this book based on her visit to join in on one of their big traditions. It is called the puberty ceremonials. These ceremonies are where the young girls of the tribe are traditionally accepted as women into their society. The Mescalero Apache Indians still use a lot of their old traditions and still believe in their old myths. Bernard, who was a dear friend of the author told many stories revolving the the ancient ways of the Mescalero Apache tribe. As in their creation, their ways of live, and even their traditions.…

The stories “A Sound of Thunder and Nethergrave” are wonderful pieces of science fiction. Both stories take you on a journey. One story takes you through the past and the other takes you through a virtual world. Of the both stories I think that “A Sound of Thunder”was a better story because it had a clearer story line then the other.…
Analysis: At this point, William figures out that the deaths following the trumpets of the apocalypse was a coincidence as opposed to a pattern. He asks Jorge why he decided to play along with the notion of the seven trumpets that would eventually lead him to the secret room in the library. Jorge explains that it was God’s doing and he was merely a vessel upon which the actions were carried at. The seven trumpets of the apocalypse were believed by Jorge to be a sign that the book he was guarding would be capable of bringing about the Antichrist.…
The use of circular structure in “A Sound of Thunder” by Ray Bradbury is character appearance, how the president's changed from the beginning to the end of the story. Ray Bradbury chose this particular circular structure because he wanted to show the readers that the future is unpredictable meaning that the future can never really be predicted. The story begins with a hunted named, Eckels. He decides that he really wants to travel with the Time Safari, it allows hunters to travel back in time in a time machine to kill Tyrannosaurus Rex. One external conflict in the story “A Sound of Thunder” was Man vs. Man, Eckels started to panic, and he stepped off of the path onto the butterfly when he saw the dinosaur, which altered time, and drew butterflies to extinction. Because of that, it started a conflict with Travis, who threatened to leave him in the past, for not following his orders. Another external conflict was Man vs. Nature, the conflict between Eckels and the dinosaur. When Eckels first saw the dinosaur, it was far bigger and scarier than expected. Eckels began to get very frightened and lose his nerve. A third external conflict was Man Vs. Society, at first it may have seemed unimportant, but by the end of the story, what Eckels was most afraid of had became true. Because…

Perhaps the most striking part of Blood and Thunder is the famed and fabled Kit Carson himself. He begins the book as a duty-driven youth who is able to kill anyone or anything without a sense of remorse, likely because of his experiences with the harshness of life as a child. However, once he begins to have a family—a real family, one he raises and takes care of and looks after—he begins to shift. Carson begins to balk at some killings, even going so far as to decry the killing of indian warriors at Carleton’s order.…
