The term Avatar, in the Hindi religion, is an incarnation of the divine in either human or animal form. James Cameron chose the perfect name for his movie, Avatar, because you see what it is like being able to leave your body and inhabit a completely new one. This movie lets you view life in a different point of view and see how allowing yourself to be vulnerable can open up your eyes and change your views on life and what truly matters. This movie conveys such an important and wonderful message. The human race inhabits their land and brings in their military forces, scientists and weapons to move the Na’vi out of their home so the humans could mine their trees for unobtanium. One strong point that James Cameron made in this movie was that our military shows no mercy and is set up to only follow orders. Jake learns that the military is ready to kill anyone, if the Na’vi people do not leave peacefully. This scene shows that our culture and military forces, although are supposed to appear strong and forceful, show no compassion when it stands in the way of their direct orders. The purpose of possessing a strong military force is to protect the innocent and only do harm when it is needed but in this movie the military force loses its true essence and turns into the bad guy. Our military force is known to sometimes invade areas under false pretenses and lie about their true intentions. James Cameron shows that the humans have a hidden agenda and instead of actually wanting to help the Na’vi people, they want to remove them from their home and steal their unobtanium. It appears that James Cameron made the military in the movie sort of resemble ours so that we, as a culture and group, could change and realize that we cannot continue to live like this and destroy the lives of innocent
