AFL Players Positive Role Models

Summary:
I personally have had a passion for the sport of AFL and have idolised players throughout the duration of my life. This curiosity has led me to creating my research project question of “To what extent are AFL players positive role models to the younger generation of today’s society”. I displayed my outcome in the form of a report presenting all key findings. I was able to conclude that they are significantly positive role models as they attained many characteristics that are needed to be a positive role model such as a strong character, determination and many more. Furthermore, it was discovered that many players were highly involved in charities in addition to a portion of AFL player’s match payments equating to $400,000 for the year
Online articles were consistently used throughout my research and were very beneficial. I discovered them to be very accessible and with highly relevant information. A limitation I found is finding current articles that are relevant to my question were hard to discover. Although many articles allowed me to build an understanding on current and past events that related to my overarching question. An example of this is an article by Giulio Di Giorgio published on the official website of the AFL titled “Four finalists revealed for Jim Stynes community award” provided reliable, current and trustworthy information. I was then able to investigate further into the involvement of the various AFL players that were mentioned. This allowed me to gain a wide variety of views and opinions, increasing the quality of the outcome. My topic was highly speculative and based on people’s opinions, therefore not just plain facts. It was vital to find reliable and relevant sources which was important to the accuracy of the outcome. The primary sources were very important to my outcome as the data and information was very important parts of my key findings. I also researched many articles and secondary sources and mentioned these throughout my outcome continually. Although more thorough research and conducting of more interviews could have improved my validity and depth of findings considerably.
