AR 600-8-10
This is an Essay by me, PV2 Craig D. Caudill, on AR 600-8-10, leaves and passes. I am having to write this essay as a form of corrective training, for having failed to fill out a request and authority for leave and pass DA form 31. I was required to turn one in for my convalesant leave which was set to start on the first of may untill the 8th of may for having refractive eye surgery(PRK).

So I am beginning this essay, with a general over-view of leaves and passes, followed by a more in depth view of the ar 600-8-10, and more specifically Convalesant leave.

leave and pass portion of the Military Personnel System(MPS). AR 600-8-10 covers leaves and passes, and the DA 31 is a form used as the method of both tracking and

This form is also required for "block" leave, which is approved by the Chief of Staff for the U.S. Army, X__________, and his Deputy Chief of staff is responsible for setting a standard operating proceedure for the leave and passes, and is required for unusual or oconus convalesant leave cases, and many other responsabilities as well.

Within the army regulation for leave and passes, AR 600-8-10, there is a guideline for commands for Annual leave.

Annual leave is meant to give soldiers full ability to take leave in support of taking their leave they are entitled to as much as possible. With that, it is also a way for soldiers like myself to take leave without winding up with "use or loose" days at the end of the Fiscal year(FY). The noted cap in the publication is 60 days worth of leave. I myself currently have 64 days worth of leave, so this year for "block" leave, and with having read this Army Regulation AR 600-8-10, I believe myself to be now well advised to take "block" leave as opposed conserving my days for leave. The only time I think it would be advisable to make an

About Convalescent leave:

Convalescent leave is not a chargable form of leave, and is designed to expedite a soldiers return to full mission caplability after such things as surgery, illnesses, or other job related injuries. It is the hospital commander or designee, who is the approval authority for Convalescent leave of less than 30 days. Anything greater than 30 days must go through the hospital commander. Physicians determine if Convalescent leave is needed or required for soldiers to return mission readiness status, this is done by the MTF(Medical Treatment Facility), the physican not only determines the Convalescent that is needed or required, but themselvs are required to give a full justification of the Convalescent leave to the approving commanders. The approving commanders are then supposed to limit the leave to the minmal amount of time nesscessary to meet the soldiers medical needs. The commander are supposed to consider the prognosis, diagnosis, and also the probable final disposition of the soldier, The MTF should then be contacted to confirm the physicans recommendation of Convalescent leave. the soldiers responsability from this point is to report

The patient’s discharge plan was determined before she was even admitted to the hospital for this most recent surgery, since she came directly from LTACH. Those involved in deciding her plan of care upon discharge included the LTACH Liaison, Kathleen Diehl, as well as her physician Dr. Miller, her surgeon, Dr. Knoll, the wound nurses and the floor nurses. The medical team is coordinated by the Case Manager on the Surg-Ortho unit and the LTACH Liaison. According to Kim Cruz, the Admissions Coordinator at LTACH, typically the patient’s nurse or doctor will refer the patient to the LTACH Liaison, who will then interview the patient and review their records to determine if they meet the criteria for admission to LTACH, which is…

The organization offer vacation time depending on the amount of time that an individual has been employed with the organization. A full time employee will accrue anywhere from 6.46 pay days off per pay (PDO) period through 9.53 PDO hours per pay period The vacation time is made up of accrued PDO hours. PDO hours start to accrue on the date of hire and may be taken after 90 days of being steadily employed with the organization. The accrued PDO hours are not just used for vacation time; PDO hours can be used to make up lost hours from work, funeral day, and for personal leave of absentees. This organization allows each full time employee a one week vacation after one year of employee, and a two weeks’ vacation after three years of employment and that is as high as vacation plan goes. There is at least one disadvantage that I can think of for this PDO plan, and that is that if you are taking time off for a vacation or a funeral you have to fill out paper work and everyone knows why you are absent from work. It is my opinion that an integrated paid time…
