After ASPCA was formed the New York State legislature passed a law for animal protection law and gave the authority to ASPCA to make this law be force among the people. “This became the first effective model for the protection of animals.” This law gave the “Bergh’s men” authority to arrest, also the right to question individuals, and even investigate people who were suspicious of abusing animals, in other words anybody breaking the cruelty animal law they would take care of them, just like any other crime. Eventually society realized this organization was helpful for everybody and hospitals, animal shelters were opened for the care of animals. ASPCA today “is organized as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit charity, and has more than one million members throughout North America.” According to www.aspca.org And the members keep growing every day, because all they’re looking for is anyone who wants to be a member can be a member, all they have to do is get a membership on the website www.aspca.org pay a monthly fee of your choice; one-time gift, monthly gift, or an honor gift, all of these gifts consist of donating money to the foundation. Also today in Sociology class Mr. Walt was taking to the class about donating a dollar to save hurt dogs at an animal shelter. All these ideas came from the same place ASPCA
