ASU Personal Statement

Before transferring to Arizona State University, I was a student at the university in South Korea. At that time, I did not have any goal or dream, so I was not a self-motivated person. I just studied because other people do. As a result, I did not get a good performance in my previous university. However, I wanted to change and improve myself. And to do this, I decided to change my environment by studying abroad. After I came to Arizona State University to study economics, I found my dream which is having a successful business career. My grades are dramatically improved since entering ASU. I am currently maintaining 4.0 ASU GPA during 37 credit hours at ASU. I got a passion for studying to achieve my goal and I became a self-motivated person.
Now I am looking for the opportunity from W.P. Carey School to focus on business education. If I am accepted, I will do my best to successfully accomplish the W.P. Carey business curriculum. I have a confidence.

The reason I selected Supply Chain Management as my preferred major choice is that I am especially interested in the efficiency of the supply process.
When I used the Amazon Prime service, it was incredibly fast even if it does not have an expensive cost. The thing makes it faster was not only about the shipping, but also the overall intermediate process. It was possible because of their well-managed overall supply chain process. At that time, I was curious, and I felt that I want to learn this, how the supply chain works and how to manage it. Additionally, I thought the fact that I am an international student would be advantageous for my future career in the supply chain management because globalization leads the supply chain network to the international network that connect country to country. I thought my international experiences and trilingual language skills (English, Japanese, Korean) would be useful for this trend. Moreover, in South Korea, only a few people have a degree specialized in Supply Chain Management. Receiving a Supply Chain Management degree from the best supply chain department would be my competitiveness in the job market, thus I selected this major.
The reason I selected Management as my 2nd major choice is that the management major fits my goal that is having a successful business career. How to manage the company as a global leader and how to create value for profits. These are my interest and the thing what I want to learn. I thought management covers wide-range topic in the field of business, therefore I can do a flexible choice in my business career path with a Management degree in W.P. Carey
School.
