Abhinav Case Study
LOR
-What do you consider to be the applicant's primary talents or strengths?
Abhinav has many good qualities but his primary strength is his incredible ability to learn quickly. Our department, Air Pollution Control Equipment (APCE), started in January 2013 and he joined us in March 2013. Due to this, he missed the technical training provided by technology partner Envirotherm GmbH. However, he quickly went through all the manuals and understood all the technicalities of the product within a week. I was surprised by his understanding of technical terms of electrical components as he is from mechanical background. He also helped his colleagues to understand the product so that the team wouldn’t face any problems while executing the first project.

I agree that being able to multi-task is an important attribute but only if one is able to prioritize tasks efficiently. When he started his first project, he tried to do many things at the same time such as analyzing the data, making interpretations regarding the direction and timeline of project, and handling and negotiating contracts with suppliers. Due to this, sometimes he overlooked the minute but important details of the projects, which in turn impacted his quality of work. When he shared his problem with me, I recommended that he use a diary for documenting his work according to priority. After giving him this feedback, I noticed that he always had his diary handy and there was a considerable improvement in his efficiency and quality of …show more content…
He managed a team of 4 expeditors whose work was to expedite the availability of material from the supplier to meet deadlines. He gave these expeditors a free hand to work in their own style and also guided them by continuously monitoring their work and getting feedback from the suppliers. His listening skills and his ability to communicate freely with the team made him an effective leader. I have also observed his commitment to his work. For instance, our third project was the direct offer from the client, M/s Dhampur Sugar Mills, for which I nominated Abhinav as responsible person for the project. Previous projects were indirect offers, which we got by clients through the ISGEC Boilers group. A representative of the client came unexpectedly to our office and expressed his desire to meet the project team. Abhinav was on leave that day due to some health issues. I immediately called him to ask whether he could come to office for 2 hours post-lunch to give a presentation on the project to the client. He instantly agreed and came to office with full preparation. The customer was very happy with the details and went ahead with the project. In addition, due to his excellent work on this project, we generated revenue of USD 1.1 million for the

Bharti Mandal clearly admitted in the trial court that she had been coached. The honourable judge justifies this coaching, explaining in the judgment that there is nothing wrong in tutoring witnesses who are from a lower class and uneducated. I disagree with this fundamentally, their social standing and perceived intelligence according to the judge is not what makes them credible witnesses or not.…

I feel that the narrator is somewhat bias on her reporting. Though she gives us all the information regarding the case if it makes Adnan look guilty, we somewhat feel that she is trying to prove that Adnan is not guilty and that his trial was not fair. This shows that the narrator was obviously interested in this case and even told us that she has spent a year looking into this case, this would show that could have bias towards the case.…

At the beginning of the interview, I asked him about his background and his education. He came from Hong Kong when he was 15 years old. In 1998, he received his bachelor degree at University of California in Berkeley. He told me that he had an internship with Sun Microsystems before he graduated. He also told me that he learned a lot of things from there. After that, I asked him what the most important thing was that he learned in the university. First, he pointed out that the circuit design concept and programming language are the most important things since his job applied these knowledge a lot. As an applications engineer, he always helps customers to test their products and reports the customers about their testing results. When he examines an electric product, he needs to fully understand the circuit structure of the product. If he doesn¡¯t have circuit design concept, it is impossible to understand the circuit structure and the function of the product. He also need to design and write an interface program (a program for a computer to control a specific electronic hardware) when he exam a product. To write an interface program, he needs to use a lot of programming knowledge which he learned in school. Second, he told me that the communication skill is also another important issue we need to learn in the university. Besides writing program and solving circuit problem, he needs to communicate with his boss and persuade his customers. He needs to write memos and reports every week. In order to explain the situation and…
