I strongly believe a fetus is not a human until the day he/she is born. Therefore abortion should be legal for the purpose that the mother has all control over the dependent being inside her. The fetus is a parasitic being which is living off the mother so Thomson is right when he says we have no obligation towards the fetus. Although I do not think the fetus is a person, Thomson for argument sake says the fetus is a person. Thomson has this claim to conclude that humans have no duty to keep another human alive, such as in the kidnapping case. Also I agree with the ruling of Roe vs. Wade that the matter is a private issue which the mother has all control over her body and anything inside it. Abortion should be legal solely for the reason that a fetus has the “potential” to be a human therefore not a human yet. This issue is one of the most controversial arguments in the world especially in the Catholic religion. Catholics believe that all life is sacred from conception until natural death, and the taking of innocent human life, whether born or unborn, is morally wrong. Catholics believe that at conception a human is created and if at conception a human is created abortion therefore should be illegal. The church says killing innocent humans is not acceptable or moral in our society today. Also the actuality/potentiality issue works both ways where conception starts the inevitable process where a human will be born. Also the church believes abortion is wrong for the fetus has not committed any crime or has done anything to be killed. The biggest argument for anti-abortion is the fact that it is murder. Why is if a murderer kills a pregnant women he/she is charged with a double murder? If the criminal is charged with a double murder clearly that shows the law considers the fetus a human and abortion should be illegal. Also the fetus is a separate being and abortion allows the mother to act for the fetus. People who say abortion should be legal for
