INTRODUCTION
The name of the social issue we will be looking at is abortion. Abortion is defined as a procedure to terminate or end pregnancy by removing the fetus from the uterus either medically or surgically. Abortions have been around over many centuries but have been more common in the 1800’s.
I wish to address many things such as why woman have abortions, why society does not agree with having abortion, who the abortion affects, who agrees with abortions, what is the church and government saying about abortions and the doctors who perform the abortions and why is it a problem in society? I believe that the significance of this problem is evident because over many centuries woman have been having abortions privately by either doing it themselves or having another woman to assist without medical education of an abortion and all so that while some people find abortion to be ok there are still a large percent of the society who do not agree with abortion unless it causes health issues for the mother. I believe Abortion is significant because it has been around for so long and is still evident in our century because people are still performing abortions and there are people in society who still will never agree with abortions such as the church. This social issue fits directly in GNED 500 because we are looking at social issues, actions, how to analyze and recognize how this issue affects society and also who benefits from abortions and it raising questions about society and searches for answers so I believe this topic connects with this course. I will be narrowing down the topic and studying abortion in first world countries instead of focusing on the world I will keep my focus mainly on Canada and America. It’s still debateable for me to decide if I wanted to focus on a specific area like Toronto or New York so I am going keep my focus with
