Academic Suspension Appeal Letter
Graduate Council
C/o Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs

_____________

I am ___________, with student number ########. I am writing this correspondence to appeal to you to reconsider my academic suspension and grant me another chance to complete my Master’s in Information Technology Management. Regrettably, while attending the summer semesters, I signed up for BUSN 5600 to prepare me for the sequential MBA. During BUSN 5600 I was unable to completely comprehend accounting due to me being an IT major and accounting is not my best subject. In addition inheriting a stubborn personality from my father, I was too ashamed to ask other classmates for assistance and to admit the following phrase “I do not know how to do it”. I was completely wrong for trying to complete a course that requires extra dedication due to my background while being required to meet a 50-55 hour week schedule from my employer. Resulting in falling behind in the necessary studying criteria to successfully pass exams.

I am really thankful for the generous award letter, but I still can not afford to attend University. On the award letter sent to me on June 22, 2007, it suggested that my parents should take a $9500 Federal Plus Loan. My parents have $480,000 mortgages that they are struggling to pay—they pay $2,710.53 for the first mortgage and $1,188.08 for the second mortgage (monthly). Yet, they make only $4200 from their jobs. They also need pay for utilities and foods—they are scrambling every dollar to pay these bills. Therefore, I can not see myself asking my parents to take another loan on my behalf. My family simply can not financially support my college education.…

In 1787, Thomas Jefferson wrote “Above all things, I hope the education of the common people will be attended to; convinced that on their good sense we may rely with the most security for the preservation of a due degree of liberty” (Tanner & Tanner, 1995, p. 4). Jefferson theorized that indifference to education puts liberty and self-governance in peril. Education could provide each individual the opportunity to gain knowledge in order to promote self-governing and freedom (Tanner & Tanner, 1995).…

    What Made Rome Great?

Rome is an empire that stretched from the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea, and with an abundance of reasons as to what made it great, Cicero believed that the perfect location chosen by Romulus, that truly made Rome great. When building the Capital of an empire there are several factors to take in. Defence, distance from the sea, and more defence. The Rutuli people, were of concern to the Romans as they had comparable wealth and power. Building the city just north of Rutuli territory, over the hills and not by the coast made it “easy..to take with forces at his command, either by invading the territory of the Rutuli or of the Aborigines, or by... founding a city at the mouth of the Tiber.” The Tiber river runs through Rome into the north of the country. The basin of the river was inhabited by aboriginals, whom the Romans avoided battle with by settling away from the mouth of the river. The thought of an attack on the Rutuli's was proven true, as they took over the Rutulis in 6th century BC. A trend that Cicero noticed was that city’s built close to sea “ was not the most advantageous for cities to enjoy provenance and imperial sway, chiefly because the maritime cities are exposed to dangers both numerous and impossible to foresee.” Being closer to sea gave Rome many more unexpected dangers. Distance from the coast protected Rome from simple natural disasters such as storms, high tide, floods etc. But also gave them more foreseeable attack against enemies. As appose to being able to dock and invade, enemies of the empire would have to trench through kilometres of rough mountainous terrain in order to attack. Giving the Romans plenty of time to plan and react to the situation. He was saying how being close to the coast made it so much harder to enjoy being the most powerful, and to listen to what the state says because they would be in so much more fear due to the unforeseeable dangers. “A city surrounded on all sides by land…

    Appeal Process

October 26, 2014 Appeal Process Paper When any defendant is found guilty, of any charge, is entitled to an appeal to at least one level of appellate court (Meyer, J Grant, D. 2003). An appeal is when a defendant has already been found guilty in court, and they decide to take it to a higher court in order to change the ruling (Meyer, J Grant, D. 2003). Basically it is a process that takes place, because the defendant and their attorney do not feel that the verdict given was accurate and that could be due to many different reasons. Appeals ensure that there was a fair trial given and no rights were violated (Meyer, J Grant, D. 2003). The appeal process begins very shortly after the trial, when the defense sends an appeal to the court. Appeals factor in to the overall criminal justice process, because in the end they can change laws or amendments. The Miranda rights are a great example of this. They came about after someone went back and challenged the court. It was then that the Miranda rights became part of the law and the criminal justice process. Just because a criminal goes to court and is decided guilty and is charged with whatever he/she was being charged with, does not mean that the process is over and he/she accepts the sentence and it is done. The defendant may decide something went wrong or he/she has a way of proving their innocence. Then they will submit an appeal and may ended up getting out of the original sentence given. This completely changes up the criminal procedures and processes. Based on my review of the appeal courts results in New Jersey, I think that the current appeals process is very effective. As per New Jersey Judiciary annual Report 2011- 2012 (n.d.), 6,461 appeals were received and 6,159 of those appeals have been decided. (Appellate Division of Superior Court). Mostly everyone appeal submitted to the New Jersey Appellate Courts has been resolved, therefore showing that the defendants are given a chance to have their case heard once…
