Acana Heritage Product Analysis
The Acana Heritage product line consists of 9 dry canine foods.

Each dish listed below includes its related AAFCO nutrient profile when available on the product's official website: Development, Maintenance, All Life Stages, Supplemental or Unspecified.

Essential: Because many sites do not dependably define which Development or All Life Stages dishes are safe for large type pups, we do not consist of that data in this report. Make sure to check real product packaging for that info.

The first ingredient in this dog food is chicken. Although it is a quality item, raw chicken includes approximately 73% water. After cooking, most of that wetness is lost, lowering the meat material to just a portion of its original weight.

After processing, this

Peas are a quality source of carbohydrates. And like all vegetables, they're rich in natural fiber.

The 6th ingredient consists of beans, beans naturally high in dietary fiber and other healthy nutrients.

Nevertheless, lentils, peas and beans consist of about 25% protein, a factor that needs to be thought about when judging the meat content of this dog food.

The seventh component is chicken fat. Chicken fat is obtained from rendering chicken, a process similar to making soup where the fat itself is skimmed from the surface area of the liquid.

Chicken fat is high in linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid essential for life. Although it doesn't sound really appealing, chicken fat is really a quality ingredient.

The 8th ingredient consists of giblets (liver, heart, kidney), the edible spin-offs of poultry slaughter. This item can consist of the gizzard, brain, lungs, kidneys, heart, spleen, liver, ovaries and other visceral organs.

Though the idea of eating an animal's internal organs probably wouldn't interest most people, these grisly-sounding active ingredients can all be thought about a natural part of a genuine ancestral diet

Please note particular recipes are often offered a higher or lower rating based upon our price quote of their total meat content and (when suitable) their fat-to-protein ratios.

The Smackey Dog Food, Inc. is a family owned business. It was started by three sisters, Sarah, Kim and Jillian, in the kitchen of their home. They lived in a suburban area of Chicago, Illinois. Their business is making all natural dog food. After using their own dogs and the neighbor’s dogs as test subjects, it was discovered by local vets, pet stores and grocery stores. These local places began to distribute the dog food. The demand for their food began to increase and they moved their business to a larger facility and hired additional workers. As compared to competitors, Smackey Dog Food, Inc., began to rise significantly. Due to the increase in sales, the sisters decided to expand and add a new division called Best Boy Gourmet. Sarah, the President and General Manager of the company is sure the company will be able to get the loan based on projections from Jillian and her sales team. The 5/20 rule simply means 5% or less of the nutrients is not good while 20% or more of the nutrients are good. The video gave an example of calcium. The video advised that if there is only 5% of calcium in orange juice then it is not good for you; while milk has 20% of calcium so it is good for you. The video also discuss 5/20 rule in the opposite sense. If you have a nutrient that is not good for your body such as saturated fat you should stay closer to 5% than 20%. In my freezer I compared the amount of protein in a chicken breast to a prepackaged chicken nugget. According to the labels there is 43g of protein in a single chicken breast (uncooked) while a prepackaged cooked chicken nugget only has 4g of protein. If I wanted to ensure that I had a lot of protein daily, it is clear that obtaining it from a prepackaged cooked chicken nugget would not be sufficient.…
