I have substituted in multiple classrooms from grade K-12 along with working in a middle school setting (7th and 8th grade) for 4
years. Through my experience, I have seen the misuse of devices/technology from student’s who use their material to either listen to music and/or cheat throughout the entire classroom lesson. As their device/technology do not have a protection code (as some students use their own internet connection), this would allow them access to seek answers and/or the solution of the material they are learning while being inattentive when listening to music. For students who are using devices/technology provided by the school, there is a safe guard for websites they can use as to prevent them from seeking music and/or cheating websites. While many students would use their device/technology as a learning tool to help them when their teacher is unavailable. There are some students who would take advantage of their access while in their classroom setting.
In conclusion, in order for a student to be able to have their device/technology in the school, the student, parent and teacher would have agree that the student is only to use their device/technology while login into the school Wi-Fi while the teacher monitors their history logs while in the classroom setting. As many students do not understand the severity of accessing prohibit website, this would eliminate and prevent violations of the AUP.
