act of kindness
The one act of kindness that has stuck with me for many years is when I bought gifts for the mothers and children of The Moriah House. I feel that everyone should by for the Moriah House because it lets you see a safe haven for the mothers and children of abuse when they get to start over. Free from abuse.
I came to hear of the Moriah House was when I was in school, my humanities teacher brought it up in class. She told us we will have to buy a gift for the families of the house. She went on to tell us about it. She was telling us how they came to be one of the safest battered women's shelters in the United States, and how some families come down here with nothing but the clothes on their backs. She suggested that we all should buy gifts for them, and I was very happy to do so because, after everything those families been through, they deserve something.
The Moriah house is based in the Midtown area of Memphis, Tennessee. It has been around for 15 plus years. They take in families that has suffered abuse in their household. Families come from all over to get there. The Moriah House makes everyone feel welcomed amd turns away no one. Everyone is welcome. It's rare, but you may see some fathers there with their children. Like I said before, they turm away no one. If you don't have a way to get there, they will send someone to come get you and your family,
The Moriah House is very spacious. Each family has their own living quarters. They have a kitchen, dining room, living room, and 3 bedrooms. All the families share the two washers and dryers they have there. They even have a giant playground for the children to play on. The families make the Moriah house their home until the coordinators can find them a house or apartment of their own and get them set up with a job.
They have certified teachers there for the children so they won't miss any schooling, and they have people there to teach the parents a new trade or help them get their degree in any
