Active Shooter Research Paper
An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area; in most cases, active shooters use firearms and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims. A lot of active shooting is going on in todays world. People do not care about one another, and are just killing one another innocent lives are being taken away over nothing. The police are having to deal with active shooters and getting them to not hurt any one. It’s a big load for police man they not only have to protect the innocent lives, but their lives also.
For example there was a gun man who came in a movie theater and started shooting out of no where.The gun man disguise him self with a gas mask and,
a black SWAT gear, and hurled a gas canister inside a crowed movie theater during a midnight showing of the new Batman movie. He killed 12 people and wounded nearly 60 people. It was one of the deadliest mass shootings in recent U.S. history. The suspected gunman, identified as James Holmes, a 24-year-old doctoral student in neuroscience who was about to drop out of the University of Colorado-Denver, was arrested near a car behind the theater. This situation is very sad because all the people where doing was enjoying a good movie.
Police officers are trained for active shooters they go through a lot of practice to be able to deal with active shooters. Police have to have the proper response when it comes to active shooters they have be aware of their environment and any possible dangers, Take note of the two nearest exits in any facility you visit, If you are in an office, stay there and secure the door, If you are in a hallway, get into a room and secure the door. So many thing to be aware of when it comes to active shooters to insure the cop is safe and the people.
We don’t know why people do what they do they just do it, but it’s the police job to take the shooter down and help save the lives of the people.
