Print Ad Analysis The “Ballet Solider” is an advertisement that was created for Monster.com, which is a website that is designed to help people with career choices and schooling, whether they are stuck in a dead-end job, or have no job. The ad consists of two photographs; the first is of a clear plastic bag with a label saying, “Stuck in the wrong job? –Monster.com”. In the plastic bag, there are army-green toy soldiers, and a bright pink ballerina in the center of the bag. The second pictures shows the soldiers set up as if they are in battle, and the ballerina is in the center of it all, resembling how one can get stuck in the middle of a job that is not right for that person. The goal of the ad is to get people to visit the website, and to sign up. The message behind the ad is to remind people how easy it is to get stuck in the middle of the wrong job, or a dead-end job, and that visiting Monster.com will help one to find better jobs and help with career options. The ad has a humorous tone to it due to the fact that editors chose to use toys to depict a real-life situation, yet the ad is so relatable. According to Deloitte’s Shift Index Survey, about eighty percent of people are dissatisfied with their jobs. After the Ballet Soldier ad was put out, Monster.com had a forty percent increase in the number of visits to the webpage, and a thirty percent increase in registrations. Monster.com is owned and controlled by Monster Worldwide, Incorporated and offers career advice, interview preparation, resume writing and tips, salary information from different fields, and offers campus and online degrees along with the help of financial aid. The webpage also works with other websites to cover more information and has a list of other websites to help further ones research. The ad, and website, targets all age groups, genders, ethnic groups, income levels, political groups, and
