I basically lived in my room. It became my space. It was my venting space, my emotional space, and most of all my study space. My childhood relationship with my parents differed as a teen, a young adult, and an older-adult caregiver. I made it through high school. I graduated in June of 1995. I am the only one of my siblings who graduated high school. After high school I did not pursue a college education right away. My parents never gave me that drive that I needed to go to college. It wasn’t a big deal to them; I guess because they never pursued college. I’ve been through a few jobs, and none compare to my current job. When experience challenged my adaptive strategies, I made changes in my existing adaptive structure (Helson, R. (2000). I love my coworkers, my patients, and the atmosphere that it holds. I love what I do, and it makes me feel good about myself. It makes me feel like I make a difference in someone else’s life. If no one else tells me I do a great job, I know it’s a job well done! My greatest achievement so far is becoming a student at Ashford University, where I am pursuing my Bachelors in Arts in Healthcare Administration and Minor in Human Resources. I’m sure there will be some challenges, but those challenges will pass because I am a determined individual. Ashford has shown me and proving to me on a daily basis it academic integrity. I believe attending Ashford University is going to give me a promising and prosperous future. I have looked back over my life and I find that Bronfenbrenner’s Ring Approach reflects my life.
