It could only be eased by the looming awards ceremony. As the Voices of Hope and the Advanced Women’s Ensemble entered Typhoon lagoon, tensions were running high. We were all so eager to see how we did after we worked endlessly all year. All of our efforts were riding on this. There was a DJ and music, but we were all too anxious to have fun. The dancing went on for what seemed like hours, in the eyes of anxious teenagers. Finally, the awards started. Trophies were given out to different bands, orchestras, and show choirs. Lastly it was time for chorus. The announcer gave ratings to each group, and when it came time for us, I felt my heart rate speed up. “Superior”, he voiced, and we all exclaimed in glee. But it wasn’t over yet. Next was best in class. When we were declared the best women’s group, I was over the moon with excitement. Lastly was the best overall. These were the highest awards that were given out at Festival Disney. With over 30 groups, it seemed nearly impossible to place. When bronze and silver were disclosed with no mention of Green Hope, I was certain there would be nothing for the Advanced Women’s Ensemble. Defeated, we sat down on the scorching hot sand. As the announcer said the words “And gold will be shared by…” our entire choir jumped up to their feet in anticipation. “VOICES OF HOPE FROM GREEN HOPE HIGH SCHOOL”, he exclaimed. A huge cheer went through
