Advantages And Disadvantages Of Puerto Rico
Most households in puerto rico have three people. They grow rice,stewed beans,meats.They use the same education as the U.S. Same as the U.S. 3,725,789 people live in the urban. Employment is regulation in puerto rico. They buy there food at restaurants, market, farms. Approximately 400,000 people are affected by the rationing plans on the island with a total of 1,230,000 customers under AAA services.

Water scarcity has a huge impact on food production. Without water people do not have a means of watering their crops and, therefore, to provide food for the fast growing population. Puerto Rico doesn’t pay federal taxes, they speak spanish. Puerto Rico’s advantages of being a state is, they can vote for president. They can be first class citizens.. Plus, the country has done well in international competition and it has become a source of pride; becoming a state would mean losing all of this distinction. Integration as a full state would bring job opportunities and a wealth of benefits to a country that desperately needs it. Puerto rico citizens are able to come to the U.S. without a problem. U.S. americans are generally able to stay there without restriction and do not even need a passport to travel there

Based on the latest U. S. Census, the population of Puerto Rico is roughly three million seven hundred twenty six thousand 3,725,789 people. The Island than area of 3,435 square miles. Rainfall averages 69 inches per year. The year-around temperatures range from 74°F in the winter to 81°F in the summer. Puerto Rico was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493 and shortly thereafter the island was conquered and settled by the Spaniards. It had remained a Spanish possession for four centuries.     Of course with Juan Ponce de Leon being the governor and European “founder” of Puerto Rico, he believed that colonies should be self-governed within the colony. But, while he does believe that new lands should be self governed by who ever discovered the land first, what sets him apart is his ideas that all benefits of the colony should be given back to the “mother country” (In his case, Spain). What this idea means is that all wealth that is obtained from the new land must be given back to the mother country. The “wealth” from the new countries includes slaves, trade routes, and of course gold. Also, Ponce de Leon believes the colony is not fully owned by the governor, but is a part of is and owned by the mother country and the mother country makes the ultimate decisions about the colony. He has these views on self government because he self governed Puerto Rico and he was very successful and brought back great riches to Spain.
