Living in various places brings different experiences. Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs) refer to homes whereby one lives under the supervision of medication or administration, or observation of trained staff. Patients who have various conditions can live in such units. People who have sustained injury or have chronic illness will require assisted living residence. The living cost in Ogden is variable. However, the average living expense is $2,819 monthly in the eleven facilities. The national cost of living is at $3,436. Hence, Ogden offers a cheaper charge when compared to the national figures. Moreover, the nearby assisted living facilities such as Layton post an average of $2,650 living cost. I would advise somebody within Ogden to choose the facilities as they offer the best services. I visited Our House of Ogden, and the place was attractive. It is quite comfortable, and someone feels at peace. The minimum living cost is $2,850 per month. There are various advantages of Our House of Ogden. Primarily it is cheap compared to other similar facilities. The environment is of high quality, and the services are delivered on time. It has an emergency call system, and all the utilities are paid for except telephones. There are also special diets, frequent reminders, and personal laundry assistance. One drawback is that the houses are not that huge and cannot allow more than one family to live

The book also described alternative skilled nursing facilities with some facilities operating more like apartment buildings, some had pets on site, a garden, or allowing children to receive child care services at the same place (Gawande, 2014). I think that independence is very important to older adults. It is strange that people who create skilled nursing facilities, or assisted living communities don’t ask their potential residents how they would like the environment to be. I can imagine how upset I would be if I had to live in a small room, with limited possessions, and had no input on the activities or…

When it comes to the costs of delivering the care, and where it is to be delivered, a lot of things come into play. Residing in a LTC facility brings about a multitude of expenditures compared to staying at home or aging in place. In 2010, semi-private rooms averaged about $200 a day in a nursing home, and about $230 for a private room, and a one bedroom apartment in an assisted living facility averaged about $3,300 a month. Those costs are not all inclusive. There is usually a cost for added services such as private laundry, additional activities or programs.…

The services that long-term care provides include medical and non-medical care for people who require constant assistance with physical health from injury to frailness of old age, personal emotional needs, or mental problems. As a student nursing performing clinicals in both short-term and long-term care facilities, I have noticed a few differences among the two. To begin with, long term care does not have “patients”, they have “residents”. In long-term care facilities they have residents who live there, where as acute care has “patients” because they only stay for a short period of time. In fact, discharge planning starts upon admission when entering in a hospital, especially for the elderly because the longer the elderly stay in a foreign environment the more chances of becoming disoriented. Comparatively, when analyzing the demographics individually amongst long-term acer and short-term care I have realized that nursing homes are mainly occupied by the elderly and those with disabilities, while hospitals are for anyone.…

The majority of seniors would prefer to remain in their own familiar surroundings and remain mostly independent. Unfortunately, it is not always possible for close family members to step in when this situation arises; because of work pressures or commitments, physical distance or simply because a little daily help is not sufficient for the recipient.…
