Since Africa became a neo-patrimonialism it also became a hybrid system where all of its goods they got came from imports from different countries in order to reduce their cost of manufacturing them in their own country and spending thousands of dollars to produce it (Kelsall 2011). By becoming a hybrid country, they will get all of their goods from different countries at a lower price because some countries produce an abundance at a low cost and sell them for more than it cost the country to produce. Since Africa became a hybrid system it does not do a lot of imports, so everything that they make the government will give it to their people in exchange for their loyalty and comprehension. The African government made this possible by following the system of clientelism and giving the people of their county even the ones in rural areas some supplies for them to survive (Mann 2014). Their system also helped the county stop the fighting within their borders since they were made up of different tribes and so there was a lot of internal conflicts happening between them for more land for their people to have a bigger area of hunting and gathering ground, but since the government began distributing resources there was not much need for more …show more content…
This ends up weakening the capital market because the state can either lower the prices on the merchandise causing the people or the government to get less income on their merchandise or it can hike up the prices causing to make the people to flee to a different place giving their money to someone else due to the unreasonable prices (Pitcher 2009). For example, here in Chicago with the sugar-tax of Cook County people from this county are going to different counties to not pay the sugar tax which results with Cook losing money and customers and other counties earning more money and getting more customers due to not implement the taxes. Another problem that comes with neopatrimonialism is the reliance on patronage that are needed to keep the economic running and by relying on patronage it is vulnerable to an economic downturn (Costello 2017). By relying on patronage, it is vulnerable to an economic downturn since they will be relying too much on export and so when they are no longer able to get to the supplies that they need from other countries they will need to spend a lot of money to start producing what they need in their own country causing them time and money to be wasted. Time will be wasted because they will need to learn how to make the crop of the product in their own country and
