Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents

"Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant." What Horus described in this quote, meant that when hardships or impossible tasks face a person, and if that person has the courage and will to achieve them, the man will uncloak his true strengths. No one could disagree with this, including me. Believing in our own skills and believing that anything can be achievable, creates a way for us to prove others wrong and prove yourself right. Millions of people have done extraordinary things, and although we have no heard every story, we have heard many terrific and exciting ones. A man in Japan who pursued his dream of becoming a ninja, two very brave men who rescued people from a car upside down in a river, and the very extraordinary Fauja Singh who became the famous 100- year-old marathon runner. Izzy Arkin, a living legend for inspiration. Three years ago he lived in US and he worked at a job he completely despised. He became stressed out, overwhelmed, and downright depressed. He knew others felt like that. He knew that many people had to sacrifice their dreams and work in depressing jobs just as he did. Yes, everything in the job created opportunities for him, but he felt dead inside. The job did not fulfill his true dream. Therefore he decided to quit his job and pursue his dream. He moved from the US to Japan to pursue his childhood dream: to become a ninja! His true courage to quit his job and life in the US and to accomplish his long lost and recently achieved dream of becoming a ninja and that became an inspiration to others. He used his pursuit of a dream as a "vehicle to courage, inspire and educate others to follow their dreams." He has his own site: The 30 Year Old Ninja, and every day, he receives emails where people acknowledge him as an inspiration and how he has "changed their life." Life changing also applies to an incident at Summerville Bonavista Bay, on August 19, 2007, where John Tremblett with his first aid skills along with Albert Humby, a local resident, saved people in an upside down car that ended up in water. Mr. Tremblett drove down route 235 when he noticed skid marks on the road. He stopped to investigate. A car ended up upside down in water with people trapped inside. Mr. Humby heard the screeching tires of the car and heard yelling and rushed to the scene. One person managed to free them self from the car in the water and alerted John and Albert that people became trapped inside. Without hesitation, both of them jumped in the water and worked together. They found an infant in the car, unconscious, and the baby received first aid assistance from Mr.Tremblett. He began CPR on the infant until the baby started breathing again. After taking care of the baby, John quickly rushed back to Albert to rescue the others from the car. They helped the occupants from the submerged escape until only the driver became the only one trapped. In a continued effort, the driver finally became free out of the car. The driver became unconscious, not breathing, and had no pulse. They began CPR, and never stopped until the emergency vehicles arrived, despite their courageous and selfless efforts, the driver did not survive. Mr. Humby and Mr. Tremblett received a commendation for their courage, selfless act, and quick response of first aid knowledge. True courage dwells within Fauja Singh. On October 16, 2011, during the Toronto Waterfront Marathon, a remarkable person finished the marathon. At the time of the marathon, Fauja Singh just turned 100 years old. He competed in the marathon, successfully finishing it by coming in last place. He became the oldest person to complete a full-distance marathon, at the age of 100. When he finished the course, he felt ''absolutely overjoyed, he has achieved his lifelong wish." Harmander Singh, the coach and translator of Fauja said, "Earlier, just before we came around the final corner, Fauja said, 'Achieving this would be like getting married again.' Fauja Singh accomplished something that almost nobody can have accomplished, most people do not even live up to 100 years old, but this brave man ran a marathon at his age. These actions usually happen only in movies and fairy tales, but he did it, he did the impossible and truly extraordinary. Remarkable things can be done by some of the most ordinary people. The will and courage that takes to accomplish them equals extraordinary actions. Izzy Arkin, the man who became a ninja to show people that anyone can follow their dreams, the selfless acts of Albert and John show the true heart of people in dangerous and life threatening situations, and the 100-year-old marathon runner, Fauja Singh, shows that everything's possible, age does not stop your will and courage.
