Advertisement Analysis
After selecting a market segment, company need to design an advertising way which tailored with the characteristic of that particular segment to deliver the product information to target consumers. Here are some examples of advertisement applied to promote in Dove Company.
Advertisement 1 (refer to Appendix I)
This is a video advertisement. There is a woman sitting in front of the mirror by straightening and blowing her hair that try to beauty her hair outside but cause damage deep inside. After using New Dove Intense Repairs hairs shampoo that repair the heart of the hair the women able to enjoy the freedom to color, cur, straighten and tied. This advertisement tells consumers that by using their New Intense Repairs consumers able to enjoy ¼ total moisturizing milk that has been reinvested with fiber actives to go deep inside to repair damage of hairs and six times stronger. So consumers have the freedom of beauty hairs. This advertisement is applying positive message framing where it tells benefits that a consumer can gain when using its products.
Advertisement 2 (refer to Appendix II)
This is a billboard advertisement. From the advertisement all of these women are from different range of age with different types of hair style. They smile happily. This advertisement tells consumers that Dove believes all women have beautiful hair when it’s deeply cared for. No matter what length, style, cut, color or texture you can discover the beauty in your own hair with the deep care in Dove Shampoo and conditioner. None of the women are hair model but after using Dove hairs shampoo neither you. This advertisement is applying positive message framing where it tells benefits that a consumer can gain when using its products.
Advertisement 3 (refer to Appendix III)
This is a video advertisement. The advertisement is dividing into three sections, the first section is a women attending wedding with curly boom hairs. The women feel irritating with her

It' is going to end up in the toilet, I am sorry for being that open. I think this advertisement I s a counterexample of the usual ads that Bordo describes in her essay. Look at the woman! She's definitely not a model. Honestly, when I took a look at this ad, I got scared. My goodness: horribly wrinkly old lady with blue hair! Well of course there are a lot of older people out in our world, but I guess we are not so used to see them as advertisers. Let's get back to the describing. This is a progress. A couple years ago our magazines or TV's didn't even have people of older age advertising anything.     The commercial begins with a shot of the actor’s/actress’s legs in a white dress before it is revealed that it is a man in the famous Marilyn Monroe dress who is standing over a subway grate with a big fan underneath in the studio. They are trying to shoot a commercial of their own but the actor is grumpy and is not cooperating with the director which prompts an assistant to bring over a bar of snickers for him.     The economy is based on consumption and advertising is an indispensable motivator that persuades people to consume. Advertising is one of the biggest tools companies use to sell a product. Today if a product is not actively marketing, publicizing, or advertising itself the product will fail. It is essential for an advertisement to use rhetorical appeals to grab the viewer’s attention. Advertising can be so good that it can sell things to people using a picture alone. It is all in the eye of the beholder. So when I was flipping through the pages of Cosmopolitan magazine I stumble across an ad for ZzzQuil an - over - the counter sleeping aid. It was towards the middle of the magazine and it popped out like a huge billboard. The ad captures attention because the picture of the women sleeping looks so comfortable and makes peaceful sleep desirable and attainable. The ad shows a woman in her bedroom with her striped bedding sleeping in what appears to be a very deep sleep. She is lying face down, eyes shut, with mouth wide open in her bed with her curly hair pressed against the pillow and her arm dangling off the side of the bed. She is sleeping in her bed with a big caption saying “Because sleep is a beautiful thing” (“ZzzQuil”). The ad has amazing appeal and is a great attention grabber. The target audience is clear and defined and all three appeals are used well. The ZzzQuil advertisement is targeting women and they are using all three rhetorical appeals ethos, pathos, and logos to sell this product.…
