(Basic Statistics) Some would say the reason is because of slavery, when the slaves were first freed in 1863 they were released with no education, to pass down to future generations. African Americans have only had an equal education as whites since between 1955 and 1960, through the desegregation of schools from the result of Brown vs The Board Of Education ( BROWN V.
