In certain ways, imperialism had its certain positive effects, but for the Africans it was the start of a long journey to overcoming and failing.
Furthermore, the fear of never gaining control over what they used to call home is a distant dream for some of them. The arrival of white men upset many Africans and also terrified them for their future was no longer in their hands. The white men did not knock on the Africans door asking for a part of their land, they simply forced their way in and that is key to why the Africans were not initially pleased of the invasion. What began as a forceful intrusion resulted in war, the Africans king had come to desert them and peace was said to be made between the white man and African man, but peace had a different meaning for the white nation. This is the terribly beginning of a sufferable time for the Africans, specifically to the Congo. There was a written story of Ndansi Kumalo who spoke of his time and view of imperialism. He was enslaved by the white man and lost multiple necessities to living life. His wages as well as many others went down tremendously, making it hard for the African man to live. For the Africans this was barely a time of growth, for the negatives outweighed the positives. They were stripped of their independence and oneness, and they saw their own country deteriorate before them. Even though this type of colonialism led the Africans through slavery and misery, they were still a people of soul and were enlightened to grow through new education, new trade opportunities, and new culture
