Ahmedi's Journey
Survival in the Midst of a Deadly War Memoir: The Other Side of the Sky by authors Farah Ahmedi and Tanim Ansary illustrates the harsh reality and journey of Farah Ahmedi and her companions’ escape to Afghanistan in search of freedom and peace. Following the loss of both her father and brothers, Farah Ahmedi and her mother are resolved to break free from the terrible war in Afghanistan. Farah Ahmedi finds herself unable to break through the main border gate along the taxing expedition, and with the sun setting, Farah is desperate to escape. Fortunately, despite the circumstances in Afghanistan, Ahmedi stumbles upon a kind stranger willing to help her. In this story, Ahmedi learns that even in the darkest times of life, you can never predict the time or place where you might find an act of kindness and the ability to understand and survive.
