A crime of self defense or a passion for murder
Abstract
This paper attempts to go beyond the surface of the actual crime of murder, and explore Aileen Wuornos. Self defense, as well as insanity played major roles in this case. Aileen Wuornos utilized her past to dictate her current situation and attempted to protect herself. Whether or not she was protecting herself from herself or from the men that were murdered was the major concern.

Aileen Wuornos: Serial Killer
A crime of self defense, and a passion for murder.
Introduction
Aileen Wuornos was considered to be the first female serial killer. Aileen Carol Wuornos was an American serial killer who killed seven men in Florida while she was prostituting. There are different reasons biologically, psychologically, and sociologically why any one person could lose control of their mind and make certain decisions in life. Aileen Wuornos, suffered from some of the familial issues that affect the way that her mind thinks. The familial issues that Aileen suffered from impacted her and eventually induced the way that she behaved as an adult. Once Aileen was arrested for the murder of the men, she filed for post conviction relief, and later filed appeals in her guilty conviction. She was eventually sentenced to death.
History
Growing up as a child, Aileen agonized over the hurt and betrayal that her grandfather and the men in her family caused. From the beginning Aileen, had family issues that were on surface that never got resolved, which is a concise explanation concerning how she behaved as an adult. Some of the most important biological factors that influenced Aileen’s life were the fact that her mom abandoned her by choice when she and her siblings were young.
