protector”. However even with this new mindset, security forces remain the focal point for force protection. The first proposed change involves the air force doctrine which states that force protection will become the Air force’s seventh core competency, which will set the foundation for future planning and execution of force protection efforts.
Men and women of the security forces have many responsibilities, depending on the sector assigned. For example, when assigned missile protection the duties would include, guarding launch facilities, security installations and personnel on bases in the united states and overseas. Also to protect high valued assets during transport. However, if assigned into law enforcement the day-to-day responsibilities would be similar to a civilian police officer, interviewing witnesses, arresting suspects, conducting on-base investigations, and patrolling the base.
There are many qualifications to become a member of the United States Air Force Security Forces.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, and have a minimum ASVAB score of 36. Must be between the ages of 17 and 39, have normal color vision, and pass all basic height and weight requirements.
