That is, amounts which could be harmful to the health or comfort of humans and animals or which could cause damage to plants and materials. However; air pollution is something that can be prevented and is there are things that we as humans can do to better the environment. The human impact of air pollution is very negative. Every day we do things that contribute to air pollution. For example, whenever you drive your car, you are using fossil fuels which disperse into the air and cause air pollution. Although the humans have a huge impact on air pollution, environmental factors also contribute to this. Acid rain, for example, is formed when emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrous oxide combine with moisture in the air to create acidic precipitation. This acid rain can acidify lakes and soils. It can also cause structural damage to buildings and monuments, especially those made of limestone or marble. Many of the historic structures in Washington D.C. are vulnerable to the destructive action of acid rain, with the U.S. Capitol Building itself showing signs of damage. According to history, humans have been aware of the problems of air pollution since the days of ancient Rome. The most affected by air pollution are major cities such as New York, and Shanghai, China. The reason that cities are more impacted by air pollution than the suburbs or even the country is because many jobs in the cities require things that pollute our air. For example, there are more cars, and buses that pass through New York each day just to drive to and from work, also factories also affect the air. Although air pollution affects the world greatly both long term and short term, there are people who are trying to better our world and taking precautions to help solve the problem. By just washing

Natural sources of air pollution include forest fires, dust storms, and volcanic eruptions (Morgan, Environmental Health, 2003, p. 249).…
