Akash Sleeping Journal
It was such a pleasure speaking with you on Thursday. You have created a fantastic and loving home for Akash and Armaan. You have created excellent sleep foundations for Akash and already done a lot of the hard work of sleep training at night. I will help you introduce a consistent daily sleep schedule and making so changes with routine. We should be able to eliminate the night waking and get him napping consistently, twice a day in his crib.
The key is consistency and creating predictability for Akash. Kids love routine and it’s no different with sleep. Sleep cues such as nap and bedtime routines will help him learn it’s time to sleep, while his wake up routine will indicate to him it’s time to be awake. This will reduce Akash’s confusion

As the weeks progressed my aunt noticed that Nykole was becoming more and more curious with her new environment. She thinks Nykole’s brain was showing signs of development by her curiosity and how she looked at things. Nykole started off sleeping a lot, 6/7 hours at night. About 8-10 hours in the day. She said Nykole was a breeze to take care of and they never had a huge issue of waking up at all hours…

Although taboo in Western culture, co-sleeping is making a comeback. After the retraction of previous statements against co-sleeping, Dr. Richard Ferber, child sleep guru, has now sided with a family’s decision to share a bed with their infants. Although the American Society of Pediatrics warns that sleeping with your infant can increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome, the exact cause of SIDS is still unknown. The emotional benefits of sharing a bed with your baby can be enormous and some would argue that engaging in co-sleeping strengthens the bond between parent and child.…

Throughout this week I choose to track my sleep patterns I learned many things but also was left slightly puzzled. When it came to some of the results and varying energy levels. I started on Monday (02/20/2016) I ended up sleeping a total of 5 hours and 30 minutes which isn’t a lot of sleep. I woke up and felt groggy which isn’t uncommon for me. I’ve always had a hard time waking up in the mornings. Throughout the day I felt tired, I had a hard time focusing and just wanted to sit around. Now, the reason behind my 5 and a half hours of sleep is that I have a 1 month old daughter. She tends to wake up every 2 hours on the hour and has to be rocked back to sleep and fed. I refuse to sleep with her in…

    Adapting to Parenthood

Day and night blended into an endless round of feeding, diaper changes, laundry, and rocking or pacing the floor with a crying infant. One of the most physical demanding changes I had to deal with as a new parent was sudden disruption to my sleep pattern. Getting up four-five times a night to feed and change him. Definite scheduling of my time was now impossible I couldn’t be sure when or how often my son was going to need me. Every plan that I made that involved people or a specific time had to be expandable or at least have an alternate, this way I could shift gears at a moment notice when my son needed an extra feeding or some other natural but unanticipated incident took place. I constantly had to allow more time than thought I needed.…

Dreams, everyone has them, but do they remember them? Many people claim to have amazing dreams, and others cannot recall a single detail. Many find that to be odd, while others do not mind. According to Sigmund Freud, all dreams are meaningful, even the crazy ones (Wade, 159). Keeping a dream journal is a great way to find out how often you dream and what you can learn about those dreams. Most people dream, even if they don’t recall it.…

It was a cloudy day at what looks like Sea Side Park. My father and I were standing on isolated boulders, nearby one another other, yet every single boulder was in the shape of an upside-down cone. Underneath us were the ocean’s tide, which was low at the point. The ground was visible but instead of sand being present, there were leaves and soil. We seem to have been fishing, for we were waiting till our line gets hit on. All of a sudden sharks and alligators came crawling from the water. The shark amazingly wobbled along side with the alligator. They were heading for us and my last memory was striking the alligator in the head.…

Sleeping is essential in order for one to be a functional human being. There have been many different ideas about getting enough sleep, including that a person needs seven to eight hours of sleep nightly. One myth about sleep is that during sleeping, one is in a state of "suspended animation" basically a small coma. In truth, however, it has been discovered that during sleep the brain is active, variations in heartbeat and breathing occur, and the eyes and ears are active. These are important stages during sleep because they help that person be more aware, awake, and alert during consciousness. A student's sleeping pattern affect them during the day, and with a few small steps can be prevented.…
