A Game of Thrones Packed with intense violence, romance, and everything in between, A Game of Thrones may be the perfect book for anyone looking for an adventure. The complex story and in-depth character development makes it feel as though the book is real. There isn’t a “main” character. Instead there are several main characters whose viewpoints are followed through two continents, Westeros, where the Seven Kingdoms lie, and a continent without a name across the sea. It follows Eddard (Ned) Stark, the lord of Winterfell, his wife Catelyn, his sons; Robb, Bran, Rickon, and his bastard-born son Jon, and his daughters; Sansa and Arya. The Stark storyline takes place in Winterfell, the northern most part of Westeros, for a majority of the book. Another one of the characters that the book follows is Daenerys Targaryen and her brother Viserys through the lands across the sea. A disfigured dwarf named Tyrion Lannister is the final “main” character whose viewpoint is followed. His storyline stretches all throughout Westeros. Each character faces their own conflicts and challenges, but most of them ultimately intertwine with each other. There are a lot more characters that are important figures throughout the entire book. The setting, parts, and plot are the three major characteristics of this book that make it great. All the characters in the book tell their stories in the lands of Westeros, which can be separated into three parts. The north, which contains lands such as Winterfall, The Wall, and several small castles belonging to lesser lords. The south, which contains King’s Landing, the place where the king of the Seven Kingdoms reigns, and other places of great importance such as Dragonstone and Casterly Rock. The final section of the world is located across the sea. It isn’t named, but its capital is Assh’ai. There are also a ridiculous amount of mountains, roads, cities, rivers, lakes, and forests. All
