Pregnancy is a very delicate time in which another human being is formed. It is as common as someone learning to drive or going to school, but when do everyday behaviors seen in our world today effect that developing offspring? Does drug or alcohol abuse actually hurt the unborn child? What about the mental health of the carrying mother; would depression or other mental illnesses hurt the baby? Do eating habits or exercise actually produce different traits once the child is born? During pregnancy, ingesting and doing a wide variety of things can cause several various effects on the unborn child of the mother depending on the activity. Alcohol use during pregnancy is widely known for being a big no-no, but why? Consuming alcohol, which can be anything from beer to a wine cooler, can cause major birth defects. Possible outcomes of such behavior include premature birth, which can cause problems both at birth and later in life, heart defects, hearing issues, and or vision problems.
