Alcohol Poisoning

Not many people know about or what alcohol poisoning is. You can get it from excessive drink which will result in not only harming yourself, but others around you too. Some people find that drinking is a joke or think it’s funny, but it’s not. Every time you drink alcohol, your liver has to filter out the poisonous alcohol from your blood. Alcohol is absorbed quickly into your body (much quicker than food), but the body can only process around one unit of alcohol each hour. If you drink a lot of alcohol over a short space of time (binge drinking), such as on a night out or hanging out with friends your body doesn’t have enough time to process it all. This means that the amount of alcohol in your bloodstream, known as your blood alcohol concentration rises. The higher your blood alcohol concentration the more of an adverse effect alcohol has on the working of your body. There is nothing funny about the aspiration of vomit leading to asphyxiation or the poisoning of the respiratory center in the brain, both of which can result in death. In 2011 over 39% drank some sort of alcohol. 8% of that 39% went driving right after drinking. Even if you don’t die from alcohol poisoning it stills damages your body for the rest of your life. It takes into your body and damages your cells and organs and injures your health. Some signs of alcohol poisoning include confusion, vomiting, seizures, slow breathing, cold clammy pale skin, and a dangerous drop in body temperature. If you find any signs of alcohol poisoning never let someone just sleep it off you have to call 911 immediately or someone you

This alters a person's perceptions, emotions, movement, vision, and hearing. Alcohol can help a person feel more relaxed or less anxious.
