Alcoholism is a broad term for problems with alcohol, and is generally used to mean compulsive, and uncontrolled consumption of alcoholic beverages. usually to the detriment of the drinker's health, personal relationships, and social standing. It is medically considered a disease.
Alcohol has good effects as well as bad effects, Alcohol can briefly produce a pleasant and relaxed state of mind. People who drink larger quantities of alcohol are likely to have liver diseases as liver is responsible to breakdown alcohol into Carbon dioxide and water and this process is called detoxification.
Diseases which are caused to the liver are:
Jaundice:
This is a yellow discolouration of the skin and in the cornea of the eye.
Hepatitis:
It is inflammation of the liver, hereditary conditions. It is caused by many viruses and also by some poisons.
Cirrhosis:
Formation of fibrous tissue in the liver and death of liver cells.
