Alex Rider: The Coolest Job In The World
Being a spy would be the coolest job in the world, right? It would be an awesome job in the world if the possibility of dying every day were not so high. The job might be better if he was not the replacement for his dad who died doing what Alex Rider is being recruited to do. He is working for MI6, a British intelligence agency fighting villains around the world. Alex has had to search for many things in his life. He had to search for a will to keep going when his dad died, he had to search for identity as a small child, and he had to search for the motivation to keep his job. It is hard to go through a loss in your life, let alone a parent. Alex Rider had already lost his mom and his dad was his only family left. Once his dad died, he became …show more content…
He is repeatedly tempted to leave his job and run away. He never really wanted to work for MI6: “But then John Rider had been killed by MI6, the very same people who had forced Alex to work for them three times: lying to him, manipulating him, and finally dumping him when he was no longer needed” (Horowitz 23). Alex use very useful to MI6. Nobody would suspect a teenager to be a spy able to kill somebody in multiple ways. Although, MI6 did not treat him like a one-of-a-kind-super-killing-machine ☺, they treated him like a delinquent. He also did not get nervous or afraid of anybody. He was always cool as a cucumber ☺. He was very nonchalant about what he did and how he did it. MI6 almost lost the agency’s most valuable asset on multiple occasions; thankfully, Alex knew how important he was and how well he did his job. He was the best agent MI6 every employed, but he never felt like it. Being a spy, especially a teen spy, would be fantastic if you did not almost die multiple times a day. It would make of your friends though. ☺ Alex Rider had many searches in his life, including his search for a will to keep going when his dad died, his search for identity as a small child, and his search for the motivation to keep his job. I would give myself an

One of his biggest triggers is the milk from the Korova Milk Bar. His drink of choice, milk plus, by his own admission “will sharpen you up and make you ready for the ultra-violence” has a detrimental effect on Alex and his thought process. Once consumed, as various other drugs Alex’s self-control is lost deep inside his mind and the conditioned response of violence comes to the forefront in dramatic fashion. Alex’s has conditioned himself through his consumption of milk plus to act out his violent impulses. It is plausible that his conditioning is a direct reaction to the socialistic society that shows very little respect to the disenfranchised youth during that time period. The ultra-violent outbursts Alex displays could be a statement on his struggles against the oppressive society he is a part of. Alex and his droogs’ ultimate goal are to make the victims of their crimes appear to be the lowlifes of society and that they are being punished for their role in perpetuating the socialist agenda. Moreover, Alex has convinced himself of the delusion that he is a freedom fighter or the savior of a pre-socialist society…

Alex was told exactly what would be done to him, and he accepted his fate with dignity. The citizens of the Experiment gathered to say their goodbyes, eventually leaving only Alex’s surgeon, Emma, and Alex’s love, Adrianne. As Emma made an incision to crudely anesthetize Alex, Adrianne bespoke Alex her final farewell and gave him a final kiss as Emma filled a syringe with a black tincture, nightshade. Adrianne held her lover’s hand through the end, even though he was numb to it all, she felt she had to be there for him as Emma injected the fluid into his cerebellum. After the body was sanitized, Adrianne brought Alex to his crude tomb, and laid him into his final rest, murmuring her truly final farewell and weeping for what could have…

Being without a father in the home is more normal than not having a mother in the home. In the book, the other Wes made a rich comment about how both would mourn over their father’s absence by stating “Your father wasn’t there because he couldn’t be, my father wasn’t there because he chose not to be. We’re going to mourn their absence in different ways” (pg.3). When he made this statement he was referring to the fact that author Wes lost his dad to a sudden death, while the other Wes dad picked not to be in his life. The author used the good memories of his dad, while the other Wes looked up to his oldest brother Tony as his father figure. Even though Tony wanted Wes to stay away from the drug game and the streets, he turned to what he had seen Tony doing. The writer Wes used his good memories of his dad to make him a stronger and wiser man. He saw how his dad did what he had to do to provide for his family. From personal experience I know how it feels to not have your dad in the home. Your home feels incomplete and all you can do is hope that daddy will come home one day. My dad left when I was two because of the problems between him and my mom. He was never abusive nor an addict; he just left me. I used to blame myself for him leaving, but he eventually explained everything to me. When you grow up missing a parent in the home it can lead to drug/ alcohol abuse, emotional distress, suicide, and other…

First of all, we see that Alex is in the innocence stage because he is naive, inexperience and pure-hearted. At the beginning of the story, Alex naively thinks that wars are like games and that everything is about control. But unfortunately, wars and battles are not a simple thing as Alex thinks they are. There are serious consequences behind the war that Alex has not notice about, for example, he does not know that many people will die in the war. As Alex likes the military stuff and history, Alex reveals, “it isn’t the killing and ghoulish stuff that interests me. It’s the battle plans and the strategy and the weapons. It’s like chess or curling or bridge — those are all games I really” (Bell 17). This quotation shows that Alex naively thinks about wars and battle plans are like games like chess or curling or bridge. Wars and battle plans are completely different thing from chess games because the consequences behind war and chess game are entirely different. Losing a chess game is not a big deal, it won’t…

    Espionage and Bond Movies

Espionage has always fascinated the public, especially as a result of Hollywood’s spy films. Throughout the centuries the spy genre has undergone many changes. From early movies based on World War II to modern films about the Cold War, Hollywood has always seemed to distort the line between fact and fiction. Ian Fleming’s James Bond was and still is the catalyst of the latest transformation of undercover agent within the spy genre. Moreover, other films such as Mission Impossible II have also propagated this distortion between truth and reality through the character of Ethan Hunt. However, separating the theatrics from the truth is important; movies within the spy genre have set unrealistic stereotypes of what it means to work in the intelligence field. For that reason I intend to compare and contrast two films, Die Another Day and Mission Impossible II as well as discuss how real espionage differs from the common myths represented throughout these films.…

The career of my choice is to become an FBI special agent in the Counterterrorism Division. Ever since I was little I was infatuated with becoming involved in law enforcement and to serve and protect my country in any way possible. The FBI special agent career has five divisions; Intelligence, Counterintelligence, Counterterrorism, Criminal, and Cyber. Counterterrorism is responsible “to detect, disrupt, and dismantle terrorist sleeper cells in the United States before they act; to identify and prevent acts of terrorism by individuals with a terrorist agenda acting alone; To detect, disrupt, and dismantle terrorist support networks, including financial support networks; To enhance our capability to quickly ascertain the reliability, implications, and details of terrorist threats and to improve our capacity to disseminate threat-related information to local, state, and federal agencies, and to the private sector as needed; and to enhance our overall contribution to the U.S. Intelligence Community and to senior policy makers in government by providing timely and accurate in-depth analysis of the terrorist threats and other information of value on an on-going basis.”…

Alex tried not to do anything that would put him in close proximity to the major. Since he was his boss, this wasn't always possible. "I went to work and did my job," he says. He saw that the major behaved that way with everyone. "I looked at him and thought 'he has flaws' but I didn't take it personally," he says. He also turned to friends outside of the office with whom he could vent. At one point, Alex thought he would go to the chief of staff to share what was going on but then thought better of it. "I didn't feel it was my job to go and topple him," he says. Plus he didn't want to be seen as a complainer and wasn't sure sharing his opinion would change anything. Since assignments in the military are often short, Alex decided to wait it out. Eventually the major was sent to another position and Alex filled in for his role for four months. He said it was a vindicating experience because people commented on what a better job he was doing. In the end, Alex says he has no ill will toward the major. He believes it made him more self-aware. "I often ask myself, 'Is this something I do with my subordinates?"…
