Alexander never lost a battle. The tactics and strategies he used made his army faster and stronger than his opponents. For fifteen years in all the wars and rebellions Alexander dealt with, he never lost one battle. Going undefeated for this long was something that was never been done before and not done up to this date.
Even though Alexander was known for being a ruthless ruler, he also was very sensitive. Alexander held a state funeral for his horse who name was Bucephalas in 326 BC when it died and named the city Bucephala in India after his dead horse. This was the city closed to where his horse was lethally wounded in battle. He also named 70 cities after himself: Alexandria.
Alexander’s father was Philip II, ruler of Macedonia that ruled previous to Alexander. During Alexander’s childhood, his father hired famous philosopher Aristotle to educate him. In addition, during Alexander’s life, he encountered many other famous philosophers including Diogenes. It is argued that these people influenced and gave advice to Alexander on how to be a successful ruler that has a grip on his empire but is still tolerant of other people’s cultures.
In conclusion, Alexander the Great is one of the greatest rulers that ever lived and set an example for future generals and rulers of nations. He was viewed as godlike, but also had many human like characteristics that made him very unique and remembered forever.
