Abstract Earnest Miller Hemingway's work deal with highly defined themes of war, lost generation, nada but with these thematic backgrounds Hemingway also brings forth the concepts of alienation, regret and disappointment through his character's sufferings and psychology. In his novels and short stories the characters silhouette against the flame-streaked blackness of war, of a collapsing world of nada. Behind the apparent story there is a hidden story that is the quest for meaning and certitude in a world that seems to offer nothing of that sort. Introduction
Hemingway is characterized by crispness, laconic dialogue and emotional understatement. He drew heavily on his experiences as an avid fisherman, hunter and bullfight enthusiast in his writing. No study of Hemingway can be complete without the study of his life because he is one of those authors whose life and works are interdependent. In fact there are three Hemingways: Hemingway the man, Hemingway the author and Hemingway the legend. Hemingway the author and Hemingway the man produced the legendary Hemingway. As an author, he has captured those realities which he observed from very close quarter.
