It was the first day in seven years that the sun would appear in the planet of Venus. Everybody in Margot’s class didn't believe the stories she told them from when she lived on planet Earth. The day th sun would be coming out, Margot told the class what was going to happen, but as usual they just ignored her and even had the nerve to lock her up in a closet. SO the time came when the sun came out, her classmates all had fun and forgot all about locked up Margot. The children were this way because they were angry and jealous, and when you feel these two, you tend to do things without thinking twice about it, because those emotions are pretty strong. In this case, these emotions led to poor Margot getting locked up so she wouldn’t see the sun. …show more content…
It was very evident that they were just jealous that they didn't have the same past experiences with the sun like she had with the sun. She had shared those with the class, and they didn’t like it because she seemed happy. Margot wasn’t like the rest of her classmates, she was different. Apart from the fact that she came from planet earth. She was more kept to herself due to the fact that her classmates isolated her most of the time, because of jealousy. Adding to the fact that Margot had experience with the sun, she had heard that her parents were deciding to move back to planet earth. She wasn't the only person who heard this, of course the rest of her classmates had heard aswell, making them dislike her even more. Have you ever heard stories on the internet or the news of people getting shot or being hurt by bullying? In the story “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury and in “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. people are getting hurt two different ways, but in the act of jealousy. In “All Summer in a Day”, a girl name Margot (on Venus) knows more about the sun than the other children, yet, instead of the other children wanting to know more and hearing her out, they put her in a closet. And in “Harrison Bergeron”, there’s a handicap general who forces everyone to wear some kind of tech/gear to hide their strengths. People can be easily manipulated to go one way or the other, for people may know more, seen more, or have more than them and treat them…

Both authors chose to make girls be in a new place and try to adjust to their situations that they are put into. This show that Margot in “All Summer in a Day” is used to see the sun every day in Ohio and now is trying to fit in and prove to the others she remembered the sun. She is having a hard time to prove that she could remember the sun and she feels more sad when she is being denied of the fact she saw the sun and remembers it. “And then, of course, the biggest crime of all was that she had come here only five years ago from Earth, and she remembered the sun and the way the sun was and the sky was when she was four in Ohio. And they, they had been on Venus all their lives, and they had been only two years old when last the sun came out and had long since forgotten the color and heat of it and the way it really was. But Margot remembered. "It’s like a penny," she said once, eyes closed. "No it’s not!" the children cried. "It’s like a fire," she said, "in the stove." 500 Days of Summer is the cleverly told story of boy meets girl. Tom, the main character, is an average Joe; he works to live (doesn’t live to work) and he stays “inside the box”. That all changes though when Summer (beautiful girl with mesmerizing eyes) walks right into his life. At first, Tom doesn’t do anything to try and get Summer. While Tom is still questioning his feelings for Summer, the editing stays basic. The editing mirrors the romance throughout the whole film; only when things start to heat up between Tom and Summer do we see a complexity in editing (to mirror the complexity of the relationship). Shot types also play a big role in the movie’s success. When we see important details, we get close ups of the actor’s faces. The editing combined with cleverly placed shot types make 500 Days of Summer a great, humorous movie.…

A cool November wind was blowing and Brittlyn Jacobs pulled her blanket tighter around her shoulders as she stared out over the water of Wilmington North Carolina. Earlier when she had arrived, there had been a few people strolling along the river walk, but most had taken note of the cool winds coming in from the north and were long since gone. Now she found herself alone beside the river, and she took in her surroundings. Wilting azaleas and cherry blossoms lined the river, and their reflection shimmered in the shallow water along the shore. Heavy clouds were beginning to descend and fog was forming, the horizon would soon be invisible. In any other place, at another time, she would have felt the splendor of the beauty around her but as she sat on her balcony overlooking the river, she came to realize that she felt nothing. It seemed as if she wasn’t really there, that everything was just a blur. As if her life was nothing but a dream.…

Ice cream on a hot day. Going to the beach. Sleepless nights. Good hair days. Taking a leisure walk along the boulevard. ILC 2013 in Metro Manila. A Hong Kong Disneyland spree. Frolicking under the sun and simply living in that moment—just a few of the things I planned for my summer bucket list. My thoughts were more tangled than the students around me as we gather for our Commencement Exercises. My left eye got badly infected and turned crimson red, the main reason I never had the chance to present with my class. I climbed up the stage, got my award as the standing 1st Honor and got teary-eyed (not because I was in a sentimental condition but because I can barely open my left eye). Having my eye infected made me dislike the start-off of my summer. Well, I won’t say I am lucky. But indeed, I was blessed that the infection nursed back to normal the next day. Now, I can clearly see God’s beautifully engineered creations. And finally! This is SUMMER.…

This sonnet is an attempt by Keats to link the natural life cycles of birth, life, death, and rebirth to the four seasons and from there to the nature of human existence. Taken literally, the poem is essentially a very eloquent description of the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter, applied to the "mind of man" or the human demeanor. If interpreted in a more metaphorical sense, the poem takes on a distinctly different meaning. Keats opens the sonnet by establishing the fact that "There are four seasons in the mind of man". This could be taken to mean that this 'changing of seasons' affects only the abstractions of mind and spirit, and not the physical form of man. This idea is maintained throughout the poem as Keats goes on to describe in detail the different seasons of the "mind of man". It seems that Keats has a desire for his life to become cyclical and wishes that he could "forego his mortal nature". The final couplet however, reminds us of the "mortal nature" of man and questions the abstractions presented in the poem. The final line suggests an interpretation that is more like an analogy. "The Human Seasons" could be taken to be an analogy linking the different periods or "seasons" in a human life with the four seasons of the natural world. Keats begins by describing spring which when applied to the analogy represents the youthful time of man. "his lusty Spring, when fancy clear" is Keats' description of youthful exuberance and of the search for well defined desires ("fancy clear"). Spring is the vigorous period of human existence when man has no limits and is occupied with the quest for "beauty" something that he can obtain with a measure of ease, "Takes in all beauty with an easy span:". "Beauty", in addition to its literal meaning, could be interpreted as meaning 'success', or 'desires' and thus this quest for beauty becomes more complex. Summer represents the transition to and the period of middle age. "when luxuriously / Spring's honied cud…

Anything could melt in the blazing summer of 1998. Birds went silent; grass stood lifeless; even the old electric fan in grandma’s house seemed ailing and needed an occasional nudge. Everyone in town, including the primetime news, were complaining about the seemingly endless summer, with the exception of me. I found it quite tolerable. In fact, I loved summer. For me, summer was a great opportunity to catch up on some of the longer books on my reading list. Without school or homework, I could finally spend the whole day devouring The Catcher in the Rye, or Dream of the Red Chamber on my couch, only getting up to eat a meal or to use the bathroom. I couldn’t be more content.…
