Allow Social Media Users Under Age Essay
Social Media should not allow users under the age of 18. I disagree, Social Media should allow users under the age of 18. Your question to me is why? Well, I have a few reasons on why should they allow user under age. My first reason is because many users have the time to talk to their friends and they can communicate. My second reason is that many users are just nosy and want to see what is going on around the world. My third reason is that many users like to chat and meet new people, or even if their parents don't allow them to talk to their aunties or cousins they can communicate with that person on social media. Having Social Media is a big help to kids when they really want to talk to people they might know. Many users like talking to their friends, yes we know that ,and if they met at school then they won't have almost any time at home to talk to each other. Users communicate by Social Media and that helps users talk to their friends. Many users find each other on Social Media and once they meet in real life they get to know each other. I disagree with the statement and think they SHOULD allow users under 18 to use Social Media. Users might have a friend that moved away and they want a way of …show more content…
Only if they are careful with who they are chatting, users do have the right to have a social media page but they have got to have family and friends only. They can meet new people but if they are telling to meet for date it's best if they bring a parent. Same thing many users find friends and have many things to gossip bout and have things to admit to others. But that does not have anything to do with not letting 18 years or younger not have a Social Media . They can have a social media but ahve to be careful. That doesn't stop anyone from having a social media

For many teenagers that is how they make friends. Through social media teens can meet and engage with other people around the world. Although this sounds like a great way to make and have friends it can often prove fatal. For example, I could be doing school one day and a friend might message me through texting. This can outright cause me to drop whatever I am doing and get engaged with something that distracts me from my studies.…

Social media should not allow users under the age of 18. My opinion is that I agree because young teens are posting things that are stupid and inappropriate. People that are 18 years and older are more mature and don't do things that are not inappropriate. Teens have been kidnapped, killed, and rapped. Teens have also have been bullied on social media and have done suicide because of that.…

As a result, teens often put themselves in very dangerous situations because they do not think about the consequences of their actions. In the article “Big Brother Meets Big Mother,” Ellen Goodman states, “But even if kids aren't wandering in the neighborhood, they are wandering in the Internet with all of its unknown cul-de-sacs.What teenagers claim as MySpace, parents often see as an unmonitored public zone that leads predators to their doorstep.” (1). In agreement with Goodman, teens view many pieces content that might be beyond their emotional maturity. These teens could be talking to a criminal or even a well known sex offender. For this reason, parents have the right to violate their teens privacy even if they do not suspect they are doing something wrong. To also agree with Goodman: “At the same time, parents are expected to know and control everything their children watch, eat, do - where they are, who they are texting, what channels and websites they are viewing”(1). Parents need to take control: they are parents, not friends to their children. They have a duty to make sure their teen is safe and not talking to individuals who could potentially harm them. However, this is not the only danger, if parents do not monitor their teen’s screens, activities such as sharing private body parts online, bullying and even posting personal information could potentially harm them or others.…

Many teenagers love social media because of its wide connectivity and function that people can receive it for free; it does not require money to make an account and use it. Facebook is the most visible among various social media. What’s impressive about this site is that you can easily connect with your long lost friends and see how they’re doing, or vice versa. You can also make new friends in Facebook. Though this could get addictive and may divert our attention away from the real world. Like what Cornell University’s Steven Strogatz said; “Social media sites can make it more difficult for us to distinguish between meaningful relationships we foster in the real world, and the numerous casual relationships formed through social media.” I strongly agree with this statement. Also, people become a whole new person, because it’s the Internet. People can be anything or anyone in the Internet.…
