Devon Leggott thought he had a lot of time to do his social studies project in class. He worked for so long on the drawing part, he lost track of time and had zero time for the essay part. With a timer on your cell phone or a measuring productivity app, this would not happen. Many people believe that students should not be allowed to have access to their phones in class. There are many reasons why this statement is wrong. Some of those reasons are that they can be used for educational apps, making presentations, and the ability to measure your productivity on multi step assignments. First of all, having a cell phone and class can be used for educational apps, such as a calculator or flash card apps. Although students might take advantage of this opportunity and text in class, there are ways a student can learn with a cell phone. You …show more content…
can take notes on your phone. This can save a lot of paper and using pencils. Losing papers in a folder is probably more likely than losing your phone. Most kids are attached to their phones and they will know that it is missing right when it is. Because of this there will not be as many problems with losing materials. There are also apps such as google classroom where you can take tests and quizzes on your cell phone. This can help with uncharged chromebooks. Kids are always on their phones and will charge it soon as it needs a charge. Taking tests could also lead to cheating, but with a teacher monitoring the classroom this is less likely. Reviewing for a test on your smartphone is easy and quick rather than getting all your review papers out. The opportunity to have cell phones in class could also be used for making a slideshow or presentations. Having to make the whole presentation in one spot, at your computer desk, can be not so great at times. If a student could make a presentation on a cell phone that would help a lot. If you are going somewhere and your presentation is due soon, you can work on it in the car or wherever you are. You would not have to make it only in one spot. Kids are not home all the time and may not have the time to be home. Being able to work on homework wherever whenever is helpful. Taking a hard drive from home to school can be easy to lose. Hard drives are very easy to break and they are very small. Lastly, your phone can be used to measure your productivity.
Most projects have many steps and if you are into your project you can easily lose track of time. If you are dedicated to one specific part of a project and lose time, that one part will be very good and the rest of your project will not be very good. You will not have time for the other parts so you will rush. You may get a good grade on that one part of the assignment, but your grade will most likely average out to not a good grade. An evened out project is likely to score higher than the other. But here are apps or even just the simple timer on you phone that can help with this. Say you have one hour to complete a project and there are 6 steps. Set your timer for 10 minutes for every part of the project. Your projects will be an evened out project and you will get a good grade. Using cell phones in the classroom can help with learning for students. They can be used for educational apps, used for presentations, and used to measure productivity. Like Devon you will not lose track of time ever again if this gets
allowed.
