Both South Africa and America had civil rights movements and protests take place all over both countries.“These major movements in Segregation and Apartheid are similar because both of these protest movements were responded to by brutal force by police, in which they used brute force to dismantle these protests (Alex, 2013)”. This caused extreme violence, killing and injuring Blacks in both America and South Africa, which also starting even more civil rights movements. “Pervasive racism”, meaning that racism was an unwelcome influence, occurred in both countries. Blacks in America was never welcome into mainstream society. In South Africa, when the British took over they looked down upon the South Africans. The influence was spread across South Africa and America, being taught It caused for racism develop and grow.
How have both countries developed today? Segregation and apartheid are both over today, the barriers are broken between races. (Josh, 2014). Since both segregation and apartheid have ended over decades ago, there is more equality for Blacks. But that doesn’t mean hatred towards blacks has faded, hate crimes towards blacks are still taking place in America and South Africa. An incident in February, 2015 that took place in South Africa had a woman being tasered by an Afrikaan in an argument over a parking space.
