Good morning everyone, my name is Ming. Today I am going to talk the topic, the positive and negative impacts of Americaisation on society.

Firstly, let us define on what is Americaisation. For the information from Wikipedia, Americanisation is a term for the influence the United States has on the culture of other countries, such as their popular culture, cuisine, technology, business practices, or political techniques.

Let take Hong Kong to be an example, it is very easy to found out that Americaisation is also happen in Hong Kong. First, let talk about food or beverage, I trust that most of the classmate sitting here had eaten McDonalds in the past. McDonalds is a famous fast food shop in United States. In Hong Kong, you can see McDonalds everywhere. And not only in Hong Kong, but also in other country, like Japan, China, Australia or even in Arabia.

Coffee culture is one of the common cultures in United Stated, so there are many different coffee shop organize by US company, the most famous one must be Starbucks Coffee. Starbucks Coffee also brings the coffee culture in US to the other country.

As we talk about America, we must have a look on the movie. Hollywood, the most famous film and television industry in the world. It produced many famous movies to the world. In Hong Kong, we can also watch the movie produce by Hollywood, also, we can enjoy the movie at the same time with the citizen in United Stated because the movie will released at the same time with US.

Without talking the movie and the food. There are also other famous brands from US. Some of these brands are very useful in our daily life, for example, internet search engine, Google. To the technology, must talk about Apple because of it iPhone and Microsoft, famous computer software provider. To the clothing, Levi’s, the famous jeans seller. And also Calvin Klein with different apparel. These brands can also find in different country in the world.

    For the fast food examples such as McDonald’s or Starbucks, they are probably best known in terms of their origin and the most popular in terms of being “American”. Both chains have been around for decades - McDonalds, since 1955 (mcdonalds.com, 2012) and Starbucks, since 1971 (starbucks.com, 2012). Both chains have continued to grow and expand to immense proportions.
