Agriculture had been the main source of income for many families before the nineteenth century. He claimed that industrialization would make America what they despise most England. He understood the cruel working conditions that progress would create. Which came to be true Sam as a child would work as a spinner one of the most difficult jobs at the mill. Children were put into to horrible working conditions many times even risking their own lives. children were being stripped away from their freedom and from their childhood. it is so hard to think of young children working in factories and being the ones to provide for their families instead of the other way around. the everyday life of a working child was difficult "thirteen or fourteen hours per diem, with only twenty or thirty minutes per meal" (Luther Seth). Not only were they in constant danger they were being taken away from their education. women were being mistreated and underpaid just like the children. many times young girls would leave their homes and move to the city to find jobs. where they would have to live and work in very cramped spaces. these were only a few examples of who the workers were and how they were treated of course men too would experience unfair work
